about
At Coup Salon we’re passionate about hair and pampering our clients in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our stylists have almost 30 years of experience between them and can’t wait to meet you, meet your hair and make you look and feel fabulous.
Rosie Zollinger
If hairstyling was outlawed, how would you spend your days?
I’d become a midnight barber and sneak into people’s houses at night to cut their hair illegally. I’d invite Spencer and Andrea to join – we’d make a wonderful team of criminal hairstylists.
What’s the best thing you’ve traded a haircut for?
I did someone’s highlights in exchange for my pink bicycle. My client had a lot of hair, so it was a big job, but the fact I still ride that bike four years later means it was well worth it!
How would you describe your styling style?
Everything I do is personalized to the individual, rather than having a blueprint for everyone. And I love doing really low maintenance looks that people can restyle themselves.
Who has the best hair: cats or dogs?
I have two dogs and they shed endlessly, so I would have to say cats. But I would rather style a dog’s hair – they’d make better clients.
Why do you love cutting hair in Vancouver?
Our clients are so lovely and laid-back, so it’s really easy to pamper them and make them feel special.
Spencer Jensen
If hairstyling was outlawed, how would you spend your days?
I’d probably hang out on the beach painting naked people and mermaids.
What’s the best thing you’ve traded a haircut for?
I’ve traded haircuts for lots of awesome things: wine and massages are some of the best.
What was your worst hair moment?
When I was in grade nine I decided to color my ashy blonde hair black. Afterwards, I looked like the ugliest kid you’ve ever seen. We bleached over it 10 times in one day thinking it would look better and I ended up with orange hair for the rest of the school year.
Who has the best hair: cats or dogs?
Cats, because my cat Margot has Angora hair and it’s dreamy to pet. When my cat dies I’m going to turn her into a stole and wear her around my neck every day. Then we’ll always be together.
Which Disney Princess has the best hair?
It has to be Ariel from The Little Mermaid. It’s all the water; it really helps with the bang physics. My runner up would be Rapunzel from Tangled – her hair is beautiful.
Andrea
If hairstyling was outlawed, how would you spend your days?
I would spend my time travelling around the world, eating all the time, and taking photographs.
How would you describe your styling style?
I like softer shapes, blended layers and really beautiful, natural-looking hair.
What was your worst hair moment?
A few years ago I went to a salon to get a digital perm the day of the naked bike ride up Robson Street. They put in the perm solution, but when the bike ride went by all the stylists went outside to watch and forgot about my hair. They melted six inches off the bottom – it was horrible.
What’s your favorite hairy thing?
I guess I’d have to say my dog, Ringo. He’s a Shiba Inu and he’s so cute.
Why is Coup such a great place to work?
We’re all really cool, easy-going people so it’s a lovely environment to be in. Coup is cool!
