about
Coup provides an alternative salon environment, combining skilled, friendly stylists with an intimate, relaxed setting. Open since May 2009, the salon was remodeled with recovered wood and recycled furniture, and is complemented by local artwork and environmentally aware product lines. This designated heritage building has had many incarnations since 1907 including a long tenure as a barbershop, and Coup is happy to bring the space back to its history of hair.
Let one of our three talented stylists make you feel at home!
Rosie Zollinger
Since she started doing hair in 2000, much of Rosie’s training has come from the AVEDA education systems. Through this, Rosie has gained a great understanding of shape and colour and has developed this into a unique style of her own. Working in Ottawa, Vancouver, and Scotland, as well as being involved in fashion shows, photo shoots, and TV segments, has helped her skills and personal style flourish.
Missy Clarkson
After 8 years of experimenting with hair as a hobby, Missy realized she had a passion that could turn into a fabulous career and in 2005 began her formal training at John Casablancas. She has since furthered her skill set with dozens of advanced education sessions and seminars, including an intensive training week with Vidal Sassoon Toronto in 2009. In addition, she finds it important to educate herself and her clients on the environmental impact of choices we make in the salon, and endeavours to foster an environmentally conscious and health-minded setting at Coup.
With a focus on cutting and colouring with practical wearability for all lengths and lifestyles, Missy is especially known for her short, textured cuts and talent with natural curls. Her work has been featured on Breakfast Television, CityTV, in local magazines and on fashion runways.
In addition to co-owning Coup Salon with the fabulous Rosie, Missy can be found practicing her other great passion in the Soprano section and on the Board of the Vancouver Cantata Singers.
Spencer Jensen
Spencer began his career as a stylist in 2003 and has since had the opportunity to work with fashion designers, television shows and movie productions. Upon his arrival to Vancouver, he became part of the local fashion industry through a community-focused monthly fashion show featuring local designers and businesses, a show co-produced by Spencer. With the continuous evolution of hair and fashion, focus on education is a must. Spencer has continued his advanced training with Toni & Guy, Aveda and Suki's.
His real passion for hair comes from his work in the salon, where his clientele continue to inspire him everyday.
